Puddles, new noises, or a cycle that dies at the same minute every load — nearly every washer complaint falls into one of those three bins, and each bin has its own suspects.
Auburn is the one leg on the map where the water changes. The city draws from local springs and wells and runs noticeably harder than the Tacoma supply on the rest of the route, and that single fact flips the washer sweep: the film, crust and slow fills that mean overdosed detergent on the bay side mean minerals here.
The intake call sorts the complaint into fill, wash, drain or spin; the sweep tests that stage with the water running and, on the valley leg, pulls the inlet screens first. A washer that fills slowly, floods its dispenser or throws a fill-timeout code in 98001 is a crusted screen or valve far more often than a control fault.

Mineral crust on inlet screens and inside the fill valve is the West Hill and Algona signature. The screens get cleaned or replaced, the valve metered under pressure, and the dispenser drawer’s passages cleared of the scale that builds where hard water meets detergent. Where the house has a softener the sweep asks when its salt was last filled, because a lapsed softener produces exactly the same washer complaints, and the honest fix is a bag of salt rather than a valve.
The valley’s damp works on the washer’s connections and floor all winter. Owen inspects the outlet and cord, the pressure-switch and door-lock spades, and the leveling feet on a utility-room floor that may have softened under years of moisture, and puts the machine back on a footing that does not walk. West Hill’s slope houses put the laundry a flight down; the stairs are part of the job, and the truck carries the gear to move a machine on them safely.
Mineral crust on the inlet screens or valve, almost certainly. Screens cleaned, valve metered, dispenser cleared — and a question about the softener if the house has one.
Valley damp under an old floor. The footing gets sorted first, then suspension and balance are checked so the machine stays put.
Part of the job. The truck carries the gear to move a machine on stairs safely, and the visit is planned for it.
A phone number and ZIP book the visit; the model number lets the likely part ride along.
Phone, ZIP, address, machine and the symptom. Owen rings back with a window that holds.
